Tutorial #8 - The Network.

We'll be going from this to this;;
Made in PS7, but can probably be used in other programs.

-Make your 100 x100 base. Sharpen once.
-Duplicate your base, desaturate, and set it to Multiply 50%.
-Duplicate that layer and switch the setting to Screen.
-Duplicate your base and drag it to the top. Set to Soft Light.
-Paste this. Set to Exclusion 62%.
-Paste this. Set to Colour Burn 50%.
-Duplicate the Soft Light layer and drag it to the top.
-Paste this. Set to Soft Light 40%.
-Paste this. Set to Colour Burn.
-Paste this. Set to Soft Light.
-Make a new layer. Stamp your image onto it. Now, I have a Mac, so things are different for me. I press Shift+Option+Command+E. Yours is probably different. If you don't know how to do this on yours, go to Photoshop help.
-Desaturate that layer and set it to Soft Light.

Tutorials 6 and 7.

Two tutorials for you today. Both made in PS7, but I'm sure they can be used in other programs.

First we'll go from this to this:
Then we'll take this and this to make:

First tutorial;

-Get your picture and resize it. Paste it onto a new 100 x100 canvas. Position it where you like.
-Duplicate your base and set it to Screen 20%.
-Put this at Darken 20%.
-Duplicate your base and drag it to the top. Set it to Soft Light.
-Put this at Exclusion 67%.
-Duplicate the Soft Light layer and drag it to the top. Desaturate. Duplicate that layer as many times as you want to get your darkness the way you want it. You could also go to Image>Adjustments>Variations and click darker if you want.

Lighter pictures don't work that well with this tutorial (as I've experienced), so I'd stick to darker images. ^__^

Second Tutorial;

-Get two images. Make sure one of them is mediun and one is semi-small.
-Use this tutorial on both pictures. Don't do the scanlines. Unless you want to, then go on ahead, I have no control over your urges. haha.
-For the smaller picture I put in a screen duplicate of the base. Only do that if it's too dark.
-Desaturate the smaller image. Copy and paste it onto the other image. Position where you like.
-Go to your eraser. Choose ripped paper edges instead of a circle or square. Erase around the smaller picture.
-Make sure you have the smaller layer still selected. Go to Edit>Stroke. Choose a light -ish gray. Make sure it's stroking inside. 5px.
-Edit>Stroke once more. Choose white. Make sure inside is selected. 2px.
-Add text, brushes, etc, and you're done!

First tutorial featuring the lovely Ashlee.

So I was sitting here, and I decided that I wanted to make a tutorial. It is my first, so please be nice. :] (Icon is also my new icon :])

Today we'll be going from this to this: in 9 steps.
Made in PS7, but I'm sure it's translateable.

1. Ok, first off I cropped my picture until I was satisfied with the way it was positioned. I then re-sized it and pasted it into a new 100x100 canvas. I sharpened once(but this all depends how blurry your picture is)and then I carefully blurred the skin.

2. Next, duplicate the base and set that to Soft Light 100%.

3. Duplicate the Soft Light Layer and Desaturate it.

4. Create a new layer. Fill it with a peachy color. I chose #ECC983. Set that to Multiply at 45%.

5. Go back to your Desatuated Soft Light Layer, duplicate it and bring it to the top.

6. Create a new layer and fill it with a dark blue. I chose #000B45. Set to Exclusion 50%.

7. Create another new layer and fill it with a darkish green. I chose #366849. Set that to Color Burn 29%.

8. Go back to your Desatuated Soft Light Layer, duplicate it and bring it to the top.

9. Go back to that Exclusion layer you made earlier. Duplicate it and bring it to the top.

And that's it! :D Wasn't so hard, was it? Different pictures will, of course, look different, so you can adjust the opacity of layers to get the look you want.
You can of course add brushes or text, but I think mine looked good without it.
